A Family Business

We are a mother and daughter-in-law family business. I'm Rebecca, and my daughter-in-law, Mikayla, works alongside me as our creative and design lead. Together we are involved in every part of NORÐUR from sourcing to rendering to packaging. This work is personal to us, as I originally started making it just for our family.

NORÐUR began in Iceland, where lambs roam freely across open fields and eat wild grass and moss. Their tallow has been used for generations to protect the skin from cold air and biting winds. When I began spending much of the year in Iceland, I fell in love with the simplicity of these traditions and the purity of the ingredients.

Each batch of NORÐUR Tallow is rendered in small batches at the oldest tallow farm in Iceland. Every jar is kept as close to nature as possible. Nothing added. Nothing taken away. Just clean Icelandic lamb tallow made the way it always has been.

Mikayla brings her eye for design and helps share the heart of our brand. I bring my background as a Certified Natural Food Chef and my passion for natural and simple ingredients. Together, we are building something we believe in. Skincare that is simple, honest, and rooted in Iceland.

At NORÐUR, our goal is simple. We share pure Icelandic lamb tallow in its truest form. We believe skincare should come from nature, not a lab, and that real ingredients still matter. Iceland has some of the cleanest land, air, and water in the world, and we are committed to honoring that purity in everything we make.

We are not a large company or a mass-produced brand. We care deeply about where our ingredients come from and how they are made. Iceland is known for purity and craftsmanship, and we reflect that in everything we do.

Iceland is one of the few places where animals still live as nature intended. From the first week of life, lambs roam the countryside with their mothers. The air, water, and soil are exceptionally clean, and the people here value doing things the right way — even when it takes more time.

Lamb Tallow is the sole distributor of NORDUR tallow products in the United States. We source our lamb tallow exclusively from Icelandic lamb suet and render it at low temperatures. Only whole suet is used — never trimmings — and it remains completely free from bleaching agents or chemical deodorizers.
